Welcome to my new home on Beehiiv — and thank you for coming with me. That genuinely means a lot.
So… what’s been happening?
After a fairly turbulent period, I feel like I’ve finally found a creative direction again.
And slightly unexpectedly, it started with a lesbian.
The Story
I’ve been working on The Queerious Travels of Veronica Quinn — which is essentially about a woman who comes out later in life and decides to stop waiting, and start living wholeheartedly.
She builds a life around travel… and a “fuck it list”.
Every place she goes changes her — not just the women she meets (and yes, occasionally gets off with), but the landscape, the culture, the people. She becomes freer. Gives less fucks. And inevitably ends up tangled in a series of mysteries that her weird and wonderful brain absolutely insists on solving.
Think… a kind of lesbian Nancy Drew meets travel writing, with more sex and better jokes.
Where It Got Weird
And somewhere along the way, something a bit unexpected happened.
The line between fiction and real life started to blur.
Ronnie and I have, in a slightly concerning turn of events, started encouraging each other.
The Actual ‘Fuck It’ List
Which means I now also have a “fuck it list”.
So far, that has included:
– open water swimming (I’m a Pisces who is shit scared of water)
– showing up more bravely in general
– some truly questionable dancing
– an inability to pull a sensible face in photos
– and… spoon playing (don’t ask — or do, I suspect you’ll hear it at some point)
Some of it is small. Some of it is slightly unhinged.
But a lot of it is about becoming the person I actually want to be.
Less held back. Less overthought. More… in it.
The swimming was the first proper one.
And I did, slightly unbelievably, stay in for 25 minutes.

If you want to see that in action (and mild hypothermia), it’s here:
This is the direction things are going in now —
the writing, the experiments, the list, the crossover between story and life.
And I’m really glad you’re here for it.
